About Us
A Welcome from the Probus Club of Eltham North
You have reached the website of the Probus Club of Eltham North Inc. We invite active retired or semi-retired people who like to keep their minds alert, expand their interests, and enjoy the fellowship of new friends, to consider becoming a member of our club. In keeping with Probus rules, we are non-political, non-sectarian and non-fund raising. Although there are single gender clubs in Australia, our club is open to both men and women, with partners or single.
The key Probus objectives are to provide fun, fellowship and friendship and we endeavour to offer our members a variety of activities such as general meetings with interesting speakers, small group activities, outings and dining out. The complete range of our activities is shown under the Site Navigation headings on the top of your screen.
We invite you to browse through our website and, if you would like more information, please contact us. You are always welcome to attend a meeting as a guest to check us out. We look forward very much to hearing from you and to answering any questions you may have.

OUR CLUB HAS TURNED 30 YEARS OF AGE ! – AND WE CELEBRATED !!
Yes, back on 29th July 1993 our club was born. We have now been having Fun, Friendship and Fellowship for 30 years, and so at our general meeting on 3rd August we had a special celebration event to mark this significant milestone.
The event acknowledged the longest serving members of our club, followed by fun and games and, of course, cake 🎂 and party food!.
Our guests of honour from the Eltham Rotary Club were their President, Ian Toohill, and their Membership Director, Jules Aussems . Eltham Rotary was our original sponsoring organisation. It was a pleasure to have Ian and Jules at our 30th Birthday celebration.
A pictorial summary of our fantastic celebration event follows:
President Robert welcoming club members and visitors, while Secretary Ian records the proceedings
Club member Dorothy remembering our recently-deceased Foundation Member, Sheila Rogers
Presentation by Eltham Rotary President, Ian Toohill, to club members of certificates acknowledging very long years of club membership
After the Happy Birthday song was sung loudly, the Birthday Cake was cut, by our last surviving Foundation Member, Bob Braby
As well as cake, there was party food, lollies, party hats, blowers & poppers
A game of Heads and Tails, followed by Nola’s 1993 Trivia Quiz (although no photographic evidence of the extraordinary scores and winners…..)
Winston’s entertaining jokes
Eltham Rotary’s Ian and Jules presenting the best dressed prize to Neil
We finished with our last surviving Foundation Member, Bob Braby, sharing various anecdotes from his 30 years of friendship, fellowship and fun in the Eltham North Probus Club
