Aims of the Club

Our primary aim is for members to maintain an active mind, expand their interests, and enjoy the fellowship of new friends. To accomplish this we provide you with regular opportunities to attend meetings and hear addresses by guest speakers on topical subjects, as well as visit places and organizations of shared interest.

Membership Eligibility

Membership is open to men and women, typically residents of Nillumbik Shire and environs, who are fully or partially retired from their normal business or profession. Your partner/spouse is also invited to apply (please use a separate application form). Membership is further extended to those without a business or professional background, but demonstrating some other level of responsibility or achievement.

The Club requires a qualifying period whereby intending applicants attend three activities (monthly meetings, walks, outings or tours) as a visitor. This provides an opportunity for mutual acquaintance and compatibility before a longer-term commitment is made. The approval of any application is ultimately subject to membership vacancies at the time.

Activities Schedule

The Club meets on the 1st Thursday of each month (excluding December and January) from 10 am to 12 noon at the Greensborough RSL, 111 Main Street, Greensborough. These meetings provide an opportunity for both fellowship and a guest speaker presentation. Morning tea/coffee is provided at no cost. After the meeting, members are welcome to stay on for lunch at their own expense.

Between meetings, walks are conducted on the 2nd Thursday of each month, combined with a lunch or dinner (the latter during the daylight saving period). Outings, usually by bus or public transport, are on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Extended tours are also arranged, typically one or two per year. A member’s partner/spouse or friend, where not a member, is eligible to sometimes attend walks, outings and tours.

Subscription and Other Payments

Membership involves a modest cost outlay. There is a once-only entry fee for new members of $15.00. The annual membership subscription, usually payable by the March Annual General Meeting, is $25.00. A quarterly pro-rata subscription is applicable when joining later in the year. For organized walks, outings and tours, where participation is optional, costs are advised prior to registration.

Application Conditions

In completing and signing the attached form (page 2), the applicant agrees to:
